We are cruising to eat at every restaurant on State Street in Orem.
Been a while since we’ve eaten out – maybe we should go on a cruise and force us to do nothing but entertainment. However, probably I would take laptop computer so I would not feel unproductive, or at least have internet access, or at very least a book. 10 or so years ago, we did go on a river raft down the Colorado for 3 or 4 days and left the world behind for those few days. I remember towards the final hours of that trip how I felt the responsibilities descend back upon my shoulders.
Anyway, been thinking about other families and how some have themes. We went to a musical fireside put on by a very talented family. Another friend early in their marriage determined to be a skiing family. I started thinking what is our family mission statement. We had a few weeks discussion about that a year or so ago – sparked by the Leave it Better motto of another family I admire. John came up with “Empty the Nest” somewhat tongue in cheek but it is the only one that stuck. But Empty the Nest can be positive if thought of in the best light.
So, back to eating out: we tried a fairly new homestyle Mexican restaurant, Dona Mari. Many Hispanics eating there indicated to me a truer taste. We had the special, a homemade soup, and a huge burrito w/large potato chunks. The soup bowl was so big that John and I just ate that, and we took the burrito home. The burrito didn’t survive long when Phil saw it.
